College was always something that I was going to do right after high school.  I would finish up high school and go to a college of my choice to get a four year degree, and then I would find a job immediately afterwards.  I was fortunate, unlike many friends, that my parents had set up a college savings for me when I was a child.  Those friends still went to school, but now they are stuck with loans that seem to get nowhere.

Going to school to earn a college degree is a choice that you make after graduating high school or maybe even later than that in life.  Regardless of whether you do it or not, college is a choice.  High school, on the other hand, is pretty much a requirement.  As a student you have very limited choice in the matter and you are required to attend school, but what if you have a schedule different than other high school students?  Or what if you do not learn at the same pace and level as your peers?  Do you just sit back and try to do it even though you are certain to fail?
